4th Annual Super Squad Competition

As in years past the Super Squad Competition will challenge teams to work together and prove their ability as a Light Infantry Fire Team. There will be five stations each testing a specific skill/ knowledge set. The Stations are detailed below.
1. Obstacle Course & the Alamo: Teams will begin in an attacked vehicle ambush. Team members will engage multiple targets from the vehicle, safe weapons, disengage and transport a "wounded friendly" on a stretcher through an obstacle course. at the end of the course they will secure "the Alamo" where by engaging multiple targets. Scores will be for accuracy (80 points max) and remaining time from start to finish (Run time - 30 minutes)
2. S.A.L.U.T.E Report via Field Phones. Teams will be given 60 seconds to view a "situation". Then they must use field phones to relay the "situation" in an appropriate S.A.L.U.T.E. report format. Five points will be awarded for each portion of the report (Maximum 35 Points).
3. Hand Signals. Team members will randomly select 2 hand signals. the team leader and assistant leader will be required to demonstrate the signal and the team should correctly respond to the hand signal. Points will be awarded for correct hand signal (10x2) and correct team response (10x2). Maximum 40 points.
4. Land Navigation. A land navigation course will be layed out for the teams. There will be multiple "coordinate caches" where teams must use correct azimuth and pace count to maneuver through. Teams must also keep a record book of their cache coordinates. Points will be awarded for best times through the course (1st = 30 pts., 2nd = 20 pts., 3rd = 10 pts.)
5. Basic First Aid. Teams will be given 2 scenarios each. They must determine the correct injury/condition and the best course of care. Ten points will be awarded for correct identification (2x) and correct treatment (2x). Maximum 40 points.

Winner will be determined by highest score. Maximum "plausible" score = 170 Pts.

Hints:
1. Accuracy is more important than speed.
2. Study report format. Practice recalling scenes (Kim's Games)
3. Go through Army Hand Signals & FM 7 - 8.
4. Know your pace count and how to orient a compass.
5. Study; heat exhaustion, sun stroke, dehydration, hypothermia, open wounds, closed wounds, broken limbs, burns, sucking chest wound, head injuries, poisoning, and American Red Cross First Aid.
